Reduced Speed Limit Bylaw

WHEREAS the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter H8, Section 128(2) and amendments thereto, gives authority to Municipal Councils to reduce, by by-law, the speed limit for motor vehicles driven on highways or portions of a highway under its jurisdiction;

AND WHEREAS Chapter H8, Section 128(3) sets out the rates of speed prescribed under subsection 2;

AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the speed limit for motor vehicles on certain highways in the Corporation of the Township of McMurrich/Monteith be decreased;

AND THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Township of McMurrich/Monteith enacts as follows:

1. When any highway or portion of highway set out in Schedule “A” appended hereto is marked in compliance with the regulations under the Highway Traffic Act the maximum rate of speed thereon shall be the rate of speed prescribed in the schedule.

2. The penalties provided in the Highway Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1990, Chapter H8, Section 128 (4) shall apply to offenses against this law.

MAXIMUM RATE OF SPEED……………60 K.P.H

All Municipal Roadways as detailed in Bylaw 10-2002 which provides for the inventory of Municipal Maintained Roads under the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the Township of McMurrich/Monteith.
