MINUTES OF McMURRICH/MONTEITH TOWNSHIP

COUNCIL MEETING – July 17th, 2006

 

McMurrich/Monteith Township council met on Monday, July 17th, 2006 at 7:00p.m. in the municipal office/fire hall in Sprucedale.

 

Present were Reeve, Glynn Robinson, Councilors: Heather Wilson, Mervin Mulligan, John Murphy.  Absent with regret Carol Maki.

Members of the audience were:  Dennis Lachance (Custom Home Design), and Kimberly Burns.

 

Meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Reeve Glynn Robinson.  This meeting was called in order to discuss a request for an exemption to the 66 feet setback from water for new construction and replacement of deck.

 

Dennis Lachance attended this meeting representing Chris Nelles, who has requested an exemption to the setback from water in order to replace an existing deck and to construct an addition to his cottage on West Bear Lake Road.

Murphy – Mulligan  Council approves the variance on 42R-9091, pts 3 & 4, Lot 12, Concession 9, Monteith Township of approximately eight feet on the 66foot setback from shoreline.  CARRIED

 

Kimberly Burns attended to discuss the outdoor dance at the Summer Event Spectacular on Saturday, August 12th, 2006.  She reported that there is enough volunteers to organize the Dance and she is waiting to hear from the Band to confirm their attendance.  More assistance is required for the afternoon hours to operate the Beer Gardens.  Kimberly was instructed to call the Township office as soon as she received confirmation of the Band.

 

Council discussed an application for consent. 

Mulligan – Wilson  Council has no objections to consent application B-035/06.  CARRIED

 

Council was asked if the Summer Student could work a 40 hour week instead of the 35 hour period.  The application was requesting 40 hours but was only approved for 35.  Council stated that if the Roads Department had work for the student that they would approve of the request.

 

Council discussed briefly the need for a policy for calling special meetings.  Further discussion will be held at the next Council meeting.

 

Wilson -  Mulligan  We adjourn at 8:02pm until August 8th,  2006 or at the call of Reeve.  CARRIED
