 Smoke Alarms Go Back

Fire Department:
Knowing what to do should a fire occur is very important. Have a fire safety plan for your home, cottage and your work place; and practice it. The whole family can take part. If everyone knows what to do in the event of a fire, they will be calmer and will be able to move to a safe place more quickly, this includes children. Check your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors monthly. It is recommended to change the batteries when we change our clocks in the spring and fall. Time is everything, when the smoke alarm activates. Get out, stay out and call 911.

The Fire Code states that every owner is responsible to provide and maintain a working smoke alarm on every level and outside every sleeping area.

By-Law 21-2013 requires that all occupied residences install and maintain a working carbon monoxide detector on the same floor as their fuel burning source.
