The Township of McMurrich/Monteith is a small Township Municipality in the Almaguin Highlands region of the Parry Sound District, Ontario, Canada. The municipality was formed in 1998 through an amalgamation of the former Township of McMurrich and the eastern two-thirds of the unincorporated Township of Monteith. The remaining portion of Monteith became part of Seguin. The township includes the communities of Axe Lake, Banbury, Bear Lake, Bourdeau, Haldane Hill, McMurrich, Sprucedale and Whitehall. According to the 2011 Census, McMurrich/Monteith has a population of 779 people over a territory of 278.13 km².

PUBLIC MEETING APRIL 12, 2014: The Council is having a Public Meeting to review the Use of Unopened Road Allowance Bylaw (Relates to requests for improvements to and access from Unopened Road Allowances) and the Future Use & Repairs & Renovations needed to our Sprucedale School House. The Meeting will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10am, Sprucedale Community Centre, 31 William Street, Sprucedale. All members of the Community are Welcome

SKATING RINK HOURS 2014: The skating rink at 31 William Street in Sprucedale (next to Municipal building) is open. Please be aware of the changes for the children’s hockey program normally run on Wednesday’s at 6pm and Saturday mornings at 10am, therefore regularly scheduled public skating on Wednesday evenings at 6pm will be switched to 7pm instead. COMMITTEE MEMBER REQUIRED: The Township of McMurrrich/Monteith requires one additional member to sit on our School House Committee Board. The committee requires 5 members which consists of 1 council member, 2 members from the senior's club and 2 members from the community. There is currently an opening for one member of the community. TOWNSHIP OFFICIAL PLAN REVIEW: . The Township has retained Planscape, Inc. to conduct the current review of the Official Plan. Over the next few months, the Plan will be revised and the public afforded opportunities to comment on the revisions. In the meantime, if you have any comments on issues related to the official plan, or potential revisions that you would like to see, please forward your comments to email@example.com.
