The Township of McMurrich/Monteith is a small Township Municipality in the Almaguin Highlands region of the Parry Sound District, Ontario, Canada. The municipality was formed in 1998 through an amalgamation of the former Township of McMurrich and the eastern two-thirds of the unincorporated Township of Monteith. The remaining portion of Monteith became part of Seguin. The township includes the communities of Axe Lake, Banbury, Bear Lake, Bourdeau, Haldane Hill, McMurrich, Sprucedale and Whitehall. According to the 2011 Census, McMurrich/Monteith has a population of 779 people over a territory of 278.13 km˛.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING:   The Southeast Parry Sound District Planning Board has received application No. S-03/14 for a plan of Vacant Land Condominium. The purpose and effect of the proposed plan is to create 52 residential vacant land condominium units, a common element (private) road, a natural open space area and water access points in Part of Lots, 16, 17, 18, & 19, Concession 4 in the Township of McMurrich/Monteith (Monteith) A public meeting will be held on Tuesday August 19, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sprucedale Community Centre to discuss this proposal. PROPOSED CHANGES TO TRAILER BYLAW:   The Council is proposing to repeal bylaws Laws #17-2005 and #16-2012, 03-2013 and enact an updated bylaw for trailers in the Township. To view the proposed bylaw click here. Comments are welcome by the Council.

TOWNSHIP OFFICIAL PLAN REVIEW:  . The Township has retained Planscape, Inc. to conduct the current review of the Official Plan. Over the next few months, the Plan will be revised and the public afforded opportunities to comment on the revisions.
