Notice of Vote

Municipal elections are held in Ontario every four years and the next election will take place on Monday, October 22, 2018.  Casting a ballot or submitting nomination papers are ways for citizens to become more involved and make a difference in their community.  There are other key dates in the municipal election process for candidates and voters to be aware of, such as nomination day, declaration of acclamations or voting day.  

Voting Method:  The election method for the 2018 Municipal Election for the Township of McMurrich/Monteith will be Vote by Mail.  -  Vote by Mail Policy

Nomination Period:  The nomination period for the 2018 Municipal Election will open May 1, 2018 and will close at 2:00 p.m. on July 27, 2018.

Changes to the Municipal Elections Act:  On June 9, 2016, the Municipal Elections Modernization Act, 2016 came into effect making a number of changes to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.  For information on these changes visit the Ministry of Municipal Affairs website.

At this election, members will be elected for the period commencing December 1, 2018 and ending November 14, 2022, for the following offices:

  • Reeve: One (1) to be elected by general vote of the electors of the Township of McMurrich/Monteith
  • Councillors Four (4) to be elected by general vote of the electors of the Township of McMurrich/Monteith
  • District School Board (English): One (1) to be elected
  • District Separate School Board (English): One (1) to be elected
  • District School Board (French) :  One (1) to be elected
  • District Separate School Board (French): One (1) to be elected
